Columbus, Indiana-The Columbus City Council met on Tuesday night to approve a standard 10-year tax cut. Thormax Enterprises, LLC, a Seymour-based manufacturer of galvanized steel pipes, is relocating to Columbus. It will lease 83,000 square feet in a factory on 17th Street and Central Avenue that was formerly a factory of Arvin Industries and Columbus Components Group.
Thormax will invest US$668,000 in new equipment and US$520,000 in building improvements. Initially, four employees will be relocated to Columbus. The six-year-old company intends to add 24 employees within two years with an average salary of $21.34.
Owner Chad Whittymore called the Columbus plant "a unique asset in the region, with a lot of what we are looking for as a steel manufacturer."
